TIMBER SUPPLY

Wednesday 14th March 2018

Best Western Dryfesdale Hotel, Lockerbie, DG11 2SF

We are currently experiencing a major squeeze in round timber supplies throughout the UK, but this is particularly apparent in south Scotland and north England.   Are we getting the right timber to the right market?  Three experts from the main timber processing sector gave their views on what's happening, the reasons and some possible solutions.

Presentations included:-

  • Sawmill sector - Eddie Balfour from James Jones & Sons Limited
  • Board & panel sector - Alastair Kerr from the Wood Panel Industries Federation
  • Biomass sector - Simon Bullock of A. W. Jenkinson Forest Products
  • Industry updates
    • Doug Howieson (FCS) on FCS south Scotland Conservancy news
    • Andy Leitch (FCS) on the work of the Industry Leadership Group
    • Confor on general industry issues
