WHO WE ARE

About The ILG

The SFWI ILG meets twice or three times a year to discuss immediate industry opportunities and challenges and to review progress in implementing the ILG’s strategy. The SFWI ILG is currently co-chaired by the Minister for Environment and Land Reform, Mairi Gougeon, and Guy Watt.

The Co-Chair of the SFTT ILG is also a member of the ILG Roundtable Co-Chaired by Kate Forbes Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Gaelic and Ms Nora Senior, Chair of the Enterprise and Skills Strategic Board. The aim for the collective group is to strengthen business to business and business to Government relationships by facilitating cross-industry conversations and actions which focus on things of greatest strategic importance for industry, examining cross sector opportunities and potential synergies. It provides a forum for action by identifying where, how and what industry and government can most effectively work together on to drive economic growth and prosperity. The other co-chair members represent, for example, financial services, life sciences, textiles, food & drink, aquaculture, energy, construction, tourism, employee ownership and the creative industries.

Where necessary, the ILG sets up technical sub-groups to address particular issues and opportunities such as the Skills Group.

The ILG is linked to four separate regional groups with an open membership that meet twice a year. These regional meetings provide opportunities to inform those working in the sector about the work of the ILG and for the Chairs of the regional groups to raise with the ILG that might influence the contributions the sector can make to the Scottish economy or help in mitigating climate change.
